Help for Perinatal People

Our aim at City and Hackney Talking Therapies is to ensure everyone can access the mental health services that they need. The perinatal period is a particularly vulnerable time where individuals can feel more alone than ever before, so we want to ensure that both expecting and new parents are aware of the support that is available to them. If you are concerned about your mental health, please contact us, and let us find the right support for you.

How can we support you?

If you are pregnant of have a child under 5 years of age, we offer priority assessment to identify if Talking Therapies would be beneficial for you. We ensure to provide a welcoming and confidential environment to engage in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which can either be in-person, over the phone or through video calls. If Talking Therapies is not suited to your needs, we are linked to other maternity, perinatal and family services and can use our expertise to assess which is the right service for you.

We understand the daily uncertainty and difficulties that occur as a new parent; therefore, we encourage you to bring your baby or infant along to your session. At our Psychology Centre, we have the appropriate facilities to welcome you, with pram access and changing facilities, as well as a play mat, baby toys and books. In addition, we offer an employment advice service, therefore can support you through maternity leave or returning to work when the time comes.

If you have been considering reaching out but have been uncertain on whether it is the right time, please contact us and let us help you with that decision. Our experienced therapists are here to ease any concerns you have about engaging in therapy.

You can self-refer through the buttons on this website or through any health professional, or contact us, you are not alone!
