January Wellbeing Fair – Hackney Town Hall

We had a busy afternoon at the Wellbeing Fair at Hackney Town Hall on 25 January. The event had the aim of raising awareness about health and wellbeing services in the Hackney borough for residents, featuring 6 health zones with their representatives. The zones included Health Checks & Wellness, Covid vaccinations, Hackney Council – Housing Support, Volunteer Centre Hackney, Homerton Hospital and the Mental Health Zone where City & Hackney Talking Therapies featured. Many organisations were in attendance including City & Hackney Carers Centre, Hackney GP services, Shoreditch Trust and Bags of Taste.

Two of our psychological wellbeing practitioners enjoyed talking to local residents to explain how City & Hackney Talking Therapies can help people experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety and low mood.  Many residents referred themselves on the spot and we hope many more were encouraged to self-refer via our online portal.

We noticed our stress balls were snapped up!  It’s worth noting that City & Hackney Talking Therapies runs a Stress For Less group, as well as offering one to one support for people who are finding that stress is contributing to their low mood or anxiety.  There were also a lot of enquiries about employment support – City & Hackney Talking Therapies has an in house Employment Advisor service to support people who are in therapy with us to sustain their existing employment or find new jobs.

The event was a great opportunity to meet some of our partner organisations. It’s so good to see such a range of support available for our residents.
